Hello, and welcome to the October edition.
Yes, it’s the 13th. I’m pretty late to the party this month, but in my defence, the party has been happening at Hale House and I’ve been helping to throw it. (That’s my story and I’m sticking to it.)
This week, the House, in London’s Harley St. Health District, became a Campus. It now spans 76 Portland Place and 42 Portland Place. There’s a whole week of breakfasts, walking tours and (crucially) cupcakes to mark it, so if you haven’t seen 42 yet, there’s still time to come and have a nose around.
Which brings me to tonight. Hash It Out, Hale House’s quarterly panel, is back, and this time we’re asking how you pick the next market to move into, and how you know when to walk away from one. Jessica from SomX is moderating (!), the panel have all been there and done it, and I’m co-hosting. More on that below.
Beyond Portland Place, the Harley Street Health District conference lands at 1 Wimpole Street on the 20th, Frontiers Health takes over Berlin the same week, and BMJ Future Health Europe closes out the month at The Brewery. The clocks also go back on the 25th, which means one extra hour for networking or one extra hour of sleep. I know which one I’m choosing.
As usual, below is everything worth putting in your October diary. Catch you at an event soon!

Hale House Hash It Out
Tonight’s the night…
Hash It Out: Uncharted territory, entering new markets (free, registration required)
🕣 Tuesday 13 October, 6:00–8:00pm
📍 Hale House, 76–78 Portland Place, London
Hash It Out is Hale House’s quarterly panel, built for honest discussion over polished stage answers. February’s edition took on the clinical ROI gap, June’s went after real-world innovation implementation, and tonight we’re getting into something most founders hit eventually. What happens when its time to look for find your next market?
Regulation, reimbursement, clinical culture and buyer behaviour all change from one market to the next, so we’ve brought together a few people who have done it, several times over across different markets and stages:
Dr Adel Baluch, VP Partnerships, Health Systems at Ada Health
Tim Wright, CEO and Co-founder at Zoas
Jason Ward, CEO and Co-founder at EQL
Moderated by Jessica Somauroo, co-founder of SomX
Expect an hour of conversation on how they chose their markets, when they decided not to, what they most underestimated, and what worked for getting a foothold, whether that was a first local hire, a partner or a distributor. Then it’s over to you for Q&A, followed by drinks.
Doors open at 6pm and there’s still time to register, so bring a question and a friend.
