Hello, and welcome to the November edition.
Now that the clocks have gone back, it’s dark when I wake up, which I’ve decided to enjoy rather than dread this year. It also means every evening event feels like a late night out, and a 6pm panel feels a lot more glamorous than it is (even if I freeze on the way home).
October was somewhat hectic events-wise. On the 13th we were at Hale House hashing out how you pick your next market, and a week later I was at 1 Wimpole Street for the Harley Street Health District conference, which was a good reminder of how much is going on within a few streets of each other.
November is London Life Sciences Week (15th to the 20th) and it’s packed with events like the King’s Fund annual conference and the HSJ Awards, along with plenty more. My advice is to pick your battles and wear comfortable shoes.
Back in September I could only whisper it, but I think we’re now allowed to say Christmas out loud. The Hale House Christmas party is on Wednesday 25 November, combined with one last Hash It Out of the year to kick it off. I’m co-hosting, so come and say hello.
As usual, below is everything worth putting in your November diary. See you at the Christmas party, if not before!

Hale House Dragons Den Oncology Showcase
🕣 Wednesday 3 February 2027, 5:00–7:00pm. Applications close Monday 30 November
📍 Hale House, 76 Portland Place, London
Hale House’s first Dragons’ Den has moved to the new year, which gives you a bit more time to apply. If you’re running an early-stage oncology startup, this one’s for you. Applications are open for Hale House’s first Dragons’ Den, and the form is short. It asks about your company, what you’re building and what kind of support you’re looking for, so you don’t need a polished deck to apply.
Shortlisted companies will hear back in early January and then pitch live at Hale House in February to a panel of five Dragons covering investment, clinical, legal and commercial expertise. The winner gets a one-hour 1:1 with every one of them, which is a lot of expert time to walk away with.
If you’re building in oncology, or know someone who is, apply here by Monday 30 November.
Also at Hale House this month:
Hale House Christmas Party 2026 (free, registration required)
🕣 Wednesday 8 December, 6:00–9:00pm
📍 Hale House, 76 Portland Place, London
The last Hash It Out of 2026 rolls straight into the Hale House Christmas party, and we’re also on the hunt for a volunteer Santa! The job involves a suit, a sack of gifts and deciding which investors have made the naughty list this year (and which ones have been nice enough to answer their emails). If that sounds like you, or you know exactly who should do it, hit reply and let me know.
It’s open to members, residents and the wider community. I’m co-hosting, so come and find me by the mince pies (and prosecco) x
